Community Advocacy Committees

Requirements

 

o   Membership in the Northern Arizona Seniors in Action Coalition

o   Appointed by the NAZSAC Board.

o   Basic Knowledge of aging issues.

o   Resident in the community they are representing (cities of Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Clarkdale, Flagstaff, Jerome, Mayer, Prescott, Prescott Valley & Sedona or other unincorporated areas).

 

Formation

 

o   Minimum of 3 NAZSAC members on a committee

o   Members organize as a functioning body: Chair, Secretary, etc.

o   Work within the Northern Arizona Seniors in Action Coalition’s Board, Mission, Purpose and By-Laws

 

Duties

 

o   Committee to meet on a monthly basis

o   Attend community meetings – city council, commissions, chamber mixers, civic organizations, etc. to keep in touch with community developments, issues, etc. and how they affect the senior population

o   Public awareness – speak to city council, commissions & local civic organizations (must have clearance of NAZSAC’s board before submitting to media services)

o   Write press releases about local community senior issues & contributions (must have clearance of NAZSAC’s board before submitting to media services)

o   Review local newspapers & other media releases relating to aging issues

o   Advise NAZSAC general meeting on a monthly basis of aging issues in their community and activities of the committee

o   Advise the NAZSAC Board of local organizations and/or individuals who are in line to be publicly award with a certificate of honor for involvement in the senior community
